Delcy Rodríguez greets Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez

Venezuelan interim president Delcy Rodríguez has drawn attention following her greeting of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. The interaction has been interpreted as a move to place the Spanish leader in a delicate political position.

While Rodríguez has had previous connections with the Spanish government, the current political landscape has shifted significantly. The gesture is noted for its potential to cause political unease within Sánchez’s sphere, particularly as the context of the Venezuelan regime and its international alignments have evolved since her previous visits to Spain.
