Delcy Rodríguez meets U.S. delegation to discuss economic and energy cooperation
Delcy Rodríguez, the acting president of Venezuela, held a strategic meeting in Caracas with a high-level delegation from the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The discussions focused on a shared economic development agenda aimed at strengthening existing agreements in the commercial, financial, and energy sectors.
Key objectives of the meeting included the reactivation of financial mechanisms to support national socioeconomic development and the stabilization of the international energy market. This diplomatic engagement occurs within the framework of a three-phase roadmap designed by Washington: stabilization, economic recovery, and political transition.
The U.S. delegation was led by Jonathan Greenstein, Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Financial Affairs, and Jonathan Burke, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing. The meeting follows a July announcement by the U.S. Treasury to temporarily relax financial supervision measures. This relaxation, effective from July 27, 2026, to January 29, 2027, is intended to facilitate humanitarian aid and economic reconstruction following recent seismic activity in the country.
