Estado de México reports economic growth and international awards

As the administration of Delfina Gómez Álvarez in the State of Mexico approaches its third year, the state has received six international awards for its work in public security, economic development, public transport, justice, digital technology, and public health.

Economic data indicates that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the State of Mexico rose from $1.927 billion USD in 2023 to approximately $3.279 billion USD in 2025, making it the third-highest recipient in the country. Formal employment has also grown, with IMSS records showing an increase from approximately 1.79 million workers in September 2023 to over 2.06 million in June 2026. However, challenges remain, including a labor informality rate of approximately 55.07% and issues regarding job quality.

In security matters, Governor Gómez oversaw the swearing-in of Brigadier General José Efraín Amancio González Zea as the new Commander of the 22nd Military Zone. Additionally, government officials report a 60% citizen approval rating for the current administration, citing infrastructure projects like the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train as key drivers of public opinion.
