Delfina Gómez to report on Plan Oriente infrastructure investment

Delfina Gómez Álvarez, Governor of the State of Mexico, will present the progress of the ‘Plan Oriente’ during her Third Government Report. Developed in coordination with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the strategy involves an investment exceeding 75 billion pesos to address social and infrastructure deficits in 10 municipalities, benefiting approximately 10 million residents.

Key initiatives include over 100 actions regarding water and drainage to prevent flooding and improve supply, such as the construction of the Chalco Collector, the Churubusco-Xochiaca Tunnel, and the El Salado regulator tank. In terms of mobility, 600 million pesos were allocated in 2025 to pave 200 kilometers of roads, with an additional 900 million pesos planned for 2026 to cover another 295 kilometers. The plan also includes the construction of 20 vehicular bridges to improve regional connectivity.

In the education sector, the strategy aims to establish a university in each of the participating municipalities. Currently, Rosario Castellanos Universities are operating in Chalco, Chimalhuacán, and Naucalpan, while the Universidad para el Bienestar Benito Juárez García is active in Texcoco.
