South American football updates: Peñarol draws and Ecuadorian league action

In Uruguayan football, Peñarol drew 1-1 against Progreso at the Centenario stadium during the tenth round of the Torneo Clausura. After Nahuel López gave Progreso the lead in the 25th minute, Abel Hernández secured the equalizer for Peñarol with a goal in stoppage time. Following the match, Peñarol manager Diego Aguirre criticized the team's performance, citing nervousness and a lack of ball control, stating that the squad must show immediate recovery to meet their championship objectives.

In Ecuador, several Liga Pro matches took place. Manta FC defeated Técnico Universitario 1-0 at the Jocay stadium, secured by an Olympic goal from Joaquín Vergés. Meanwhile, Delfín SC achieved a 3-2 comeback victory against Mushuc Runa, scoring twice before halftime and finding a winning goal in the 87th minute to aid their fight against relegation.

Security concerns were also reported in Ecuador ahead of the LDU Quito and Barcelona Sporting Club match. Two Barcelona supporters were reportedly assaulted by LDU fans near the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium. Police intervened to contain the situation, which occurred despite restrictions prohibiting visiting fans from attending the match due to historical rivalry and safety concerns.
