Delgaz Grid validates 30% hydrogen gas mixtures in Romania

Delgaz Grid has successfully completed the 30HyGrid pilot project in Romania, demonstrating that existing gas infrastructure and appliances can safely operate using a mixture of natural gas and up to 30% hydrogen.

The testing phases included both domestic and industrial applications. In a controlled environment in Mediaș, short-term tests were conducted on household appliances such as boilers, stoves, and heaters using mixtures containing up to 35% hydrogen. The second phase involved high-power non-domestic equipment, including grain dryers and bakery ovens, ranging from 100 kW to 1,120 kW.

Results indicated that the appliances functioned correctly and showed a reduction in combustion byproducts, specifically carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. The data gathered from this project will be provided to authorities to assist in developing the regulatory framework necessary for the integration of green gases into the national energy system.
