Delhi Airport operator DIAL files FIR against 63 social media handles

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), the operator of Indira Gandhi International Airport, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Delhi Police against 63 social media handles. The legal action follows the circulation of misleading videos and photographs that falsely claimed flooding had disrupted airport operations.

According to DIAL, the posts suggested that heavy rainfall had submerged terminals and impacted flight movements. The operator clarified that while temporary water accumulation occurred at the Terminal 3 arrival forecourt following intense rainfall on September 4, ground teams cleared the area within approximately 20 minutes. DIAL stated that airport operations continued under standard procedures and were not affected.

The complaint alleges that some accounts circulated recycled visuals, including an old video of waterlogging at Dubai International Airport, presenting it as recent footage from Delhi. DIAL characterized the spread of this content as a deliberate attempt to create public mischief, damage the reputation of the utility service, and cause unwarranted concern among passengers.
