Delhi and Faridabad police seize over 9 tonnes of illegal firecrackers
Police in Delhi and Faridabad have conducted major operations to seize illegal firecrackers ahead of the festive season. In Alipur, Delhi Police intercepted a truck and a pickup vehicle, recovering a total of 2,260 kg of firecrackers. Four individuals, including drivers and helpers, were apprehended during the raid. Investigations suggest the consignment was procured from Kurali, Punjab, for delivery to various recipients within Delhi.
In a separate operation, Faridabad Police raided a warehouse on Old Kheri Road, seizing 7,270 kg of firecrackers. The warehouse operator was detained after failing to provide a valid license for the storage and sale of the explosives.
These enforcement actions follow a perpetual ban imposed by the Delhi government on the manufacture, sale, and use of firecrackers within the national capital to mitigate pollution and safety risks.
