Delhi Assembly PAC chief seeks guidance after confidential proceedings leak

Ajay Mahawar, chairman of the Delhi Legislative Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC), has announced plans to seek guidance from Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta following the leak of confidential committee proceedings. The leaked information, which appeared on social media, concerns an ongoing inquiry into the construction of staff quarters estimated to cost approximately Rs 60 crore.

The PAC is currently scrutinizing records to address issues flagged by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). Key areas of investigation include the Public Works Department’s use of outdated rate bases for cost calculations, the reasons behind increased project estimates, and the approvals used to expand the construction area.

Mahawar emphasized that the committee’s role is to verify facts and ensure accountability rather than pursue political agendas. He noted that the unauthorized disclosure of these proceedings constitutes a breach of privilege and could compromise the integrity of the parliamentary process.
