Delhi auto-rickshaw drivers protest at Jantar Mantar

The Delhi Auto Rickshaw Association, under the banner of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, is organizing a major protest at Jantar Mantar to voice grievances against both the central and Delhi governments.

Key demands include the immediate formation of an ‘Auto-Taxi Drivers Welfare Board’ by the Delhi government and the reversal of increased vehicle fitness fees. The Ministry of Transport had previously raised fees for fitness inspections of vehicles older than 20 years.

Additionally, drivers are calling for regulated working hours, greater accountability for Delhi Transport Department officials, and an immediate ban on bike taxi services operating with private number plates, which they claim threatens their livelihoods.
