Delhi BJP's Harish Khurana rejects AAP bicycle scam allegation
On August 2, BJP MLA and Delhi government spokesperson Harish Khurana said the Aam Aadmi Party's claim that a school‑bicycle procurement scam existed in Delhi was unfounded.
He argued the allegation, raised by AAP Delhi coordinator Saurabh Bharadwaj, was intended to shift public attention from controversies in Punjab, including a school‑bag tender scandal linked to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and several paper‑leak cases. Khurana said a Delhi firm bought 400,000 bags at inflated prices, coloured in AAP’s yellow‑blue scheme and bearing the chief minister’s photo, which he likened to bribery ahead of the next Punjab election.
Khurana maintained that the bicycles for schoolgirls were purchased through a transparent process, with models ranging from ₹4,000 to ₹50,000, and that no fraud had occurred in Delhi.
