Delhi cab driver arrested for kidnapping, raping and killing 11‑year‑old girl

A 29‑year‑old cab driver, Bashu Kumar Singh, was arrested in Delhi after allegedly kidnapping an 11‑year‑old girl from near Chhatarpur metro station, raping her inside his vehicle, and murdering her near the Faridabad‑Gurugram border. Police say he hid the body under a pile of stones before resuming normal activity, picking up another passenger before his arrest. Investigators recorded multiple changing statements from Singh, noted alleged marijuana use, and found no evidence of accomplices. The case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Following the initial arrest, a Delhi court granted a two‑day police remand to reconstruct Singh's movements minute‑by‑minute using CCTV footage, mobile location data and vehicle records. Police also noted a medical finding of erectile dysfunction, his attempted seizure of a police officer’s weapon, and a leg injury from retaliatory gunfire. The investigation continues as authorities work to confirm the sequence of events and file a chargesheet.
