Delhi Cabinet approves Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026

The Delhi Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved the Delhi Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026. The legislation is designed to increase transparency and speed up the process for businesses to obtain necessary approvals, registrations, and licenses within the capital.

A central component of the bill is the introduction of a single-window online system. This technology-driven platform will allow businesses to apply for various requirements, such as building plans, fire clearances, and utility connections (water, sewer, and electricity), in one location. The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) will serve as the nodal agency for these approvals.

The bill also aims to reduce administrative burdens by proposing faster processing for low-risk activities. For specific categories listed under Schedule-3, approvals and no-objection certificates may be granted immediately upon submission via self-declaration. Other activities will be subject to timelines established under the Right to Timely and Easy Delivery of Services to Citizens Act, 2026.
