Delhi Chief Electoral Officer faces Ministry of Home Affairs corruption probe
Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar is facing ongoing corruption inquiries from the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding financial irregularities from his previous tenure as Secretary (Cooperation) for the Government of NCT of Delhi.
A statutory representation seeking a review of his position under Article 324 and Section 13CC was submitted to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on September 23, 2026. As of late October, the Election Commission of India has not issued a response or taken action, allowing Kumar to maintain his electoral powers while federal scrutiny continues.
The inquiries stem from multiple formal complaints filed through the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), including grievances dating back to 2022 that allege administrative failures and financial irregularities linked to the Registrar Cooperative Societies.
