Delhi CM Rekha Gupta visits Varanasi and attends Ganga Aarti

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta arrived in Varanasi on 18 July, landing at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. A large gathering of BJP leaders and cadres—including state minister Ravindra Jaiswal, district presidents and women wing officials—welcomed her with floral garlands, a traditional trishul, and an arm‑band ceremony. In her remarks she said she came to seek blessings from Kashi Vishwanathan and to pray for the prosperity and welfare of Delhi residents.

During the two‑day visit the chief minister joined a family entourage on a boat to the historic Dasashwamedh ghat, where she took part in the Ganga Aarti. She lit lamps, performed puja, and repeatedly chanted “Har‑Har Ganga,” expressing devotion to the river. She inspected the ghats, praised their cleanliness and heritage, and received a memento from the Ganga Seva Fund. Security arrangements were in place and crowds of devotees and tourists observed the ceremony.

The visit highlighted the cultural and religious ties between Delhi and Varanasi, but involved no new policy announcements.
