Delhi child rights commissions seek action in multiple abuse and death cases

The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) have launched investigations into multiple cases involving the abuse and death of children in Delhi.

In Bawana, a school bus driver has been arrested following the alleged sexual assault of a three-year-old nursery student. The NCW has called for an expeditious investigation, including the examination of the accused’s mobile phone and CCTV footage to identify potential other victims. The DCPCR has also sought action-taken reports from the police and the Directorate of Education regarding this incident.

Additionally, the DCPCR is investigating the gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl on a moving bus in Noida, where two individuals have been arrested. The commission is also seeking reports on the death of a Class 7 student in Vinod Nagar, whose family alleges the child died after being punished by a teacher.

The commissions have emphasized the need for strict application of the POCSO Act and have demanded accountability from educational institutions and law enforcement to ensure child safety.
