Delhi CM Rekha Gupta launches major infrastructure and pollution control initiatives
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has launched several major infrastructure and environmental initiatives. In Burari, she inaugurated a large-scale Automated Testing Station (ATS) designed to conduct fitness tests for 100,000 vehicles annually, including 40,000 heavy and 60,000 light motor vehicles. This facility aims to modernize vehicle testing and combat air pollution through automated checks of braking, emissions, and suspension.
To further address air quality, the Delhi government will enforce strict regulations starting October 1, where fuel stations in Delhi and the surrounding NCR region will not dispense petrol or diesel without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC). The government is also installing cameras at all PUC centers to ensure monitoring effectiveness.
In terms of transportation, the Barapullah Phase-III Elevated Road corridor is ready for inauguration by Union Minister Amit Shah on September 29. The 3.5-km, four-lane project, costing approximately ₹1,635 crore, will provide signal-free connectivity between Mayur Vihar Phase-I and AIIMS, significantly reducing travel time during peak hours.
Additionally, the Chief Minister launched 53 development projects worth ₹214.12 crore in unauthorized colonies across five constituencies, including Kirari and Bawana. These projects focus on improving essential civic amenities such as roads, drainage, and sewerage for approximately 1.75 lakh residents.
