Delhi CM Rekha Gupta orders intensified cleanliness drive

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed officials to intensify cleanliness operations across the national capital in preparation for Diwali and other upcoming festivals. During a high-level meeting at the Delhi Secretariat, Gupta ordered the implementation of night-time cleaning schedules in residential colonies and major markets.

The Chief Minister’s Office reported that the directive follows complaints regarding garbage accumulation and delays in collection. Gupta emphasized that negligence in maintaining city cleanliness would not be tolerated and instructed departments to address systemic shortcomings and remove existing garbage dumps immediately.

The meeting included Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi Mayor Parvesh Wahi, and senior officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to ensure visible improvements across all zones.
