Delhi Development Authority proposes education and medical hubs
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has proposed the creation of a 138-hectare education hub in Narela as part of the Master Plan for Delhi-2047 (MPD-2047). The hub is designed to support universities, research institutions, vocational training centers, and start-ups to foster a knowledge-based economy.
During recent stakeholder consultations held under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the DDA also discussed plans for an integrated medical hub. This network aims to include hospitals, medical colleges, and specialty healthcare facilities, with the goal of establishing Delhi as a destination for medical tourism.
Key provisions in the master plan include enhanced floor area ratios (FAR) for schools to support extracurricular infrastructure and dedicated facilities for children with special needs. Stakeholders participating in the consultations provided feedback regarding parking norms, basement-use rules, and the identification of land for digital examination centers and medical colleges.
