Delhi Excise Department auctions 2,000 vehicles and clears 5,000 lab cases

The Delhi Excise Department has conducted a special disposal campaign to clear long-standing administrative backlogs, resulting in over 50 million rupees (5 crore) in revenue. The initiative included the public auction of more than 2,000 seized vehicles that had been occupying space at police stations and public lands for extended periods.

Additionally, the department has cleared a backlog of over 5,000 pending chemical analysis cases at the Excise Control Laboratory. Previously, delays in testing liquor samples often resulted in reports taking years to complete, which hindered police investigations and legal proceedings. By filling vacant positions and modernizing laboratory facilities, the department has reduced the number of active pending cases to zero, with new reports now expected to be available within days rather than years.
