Delhi expands electric bus fleet and launches interstate service

Delhi has expanded its public transport fleet with the addition of 50 new electric buses, bringing the city's total electric bus count to 5,088. This expansion makes Delhi's electric bus fleet the largest in India. The government aims to increase the total number of buses to approximately 14,000 by the 2028-29 period.

New transport initiatives include the launch of an interstate e-bus service connecting Dhaula Kuan with Rewari via Gurugram, Manesar, and Dharuhera. The 86 km journey is priced at Rs 153. Additionally, an Automated Testing Station has been inaugurated at the DTC’s Tehkhand Depot, capable of performing fitness checks on up to 72,000 vehicles annually.

To support electric vehicle adoption, two new public charging stations featuring 240-kW chargers have been opened at Hasanpur and Ghazipur. The new buses are equipped with safety features, including CCTV cameras and panic buttons.
