Delhi Extends Free Pink Ticket Scheme for Women on DTC Buses Until Aug 15

The Delhi government has prolonged the free‑travel pink ticket programme for women on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses until 15 August. Conductors will continue issuing paper pink tickets to eligible women passengers through that date.

From 16 August, the pink ticket will be replaced by the mandatory Pink Saheli smart card (NCMC). Women without a valid smart card will have to purchase a regular ticket. Around 1.7 million smart cards have already been distributed, and the government plans to increase issuance before the deadline. Fifty authorised centres across the city have been set up to facilitate card distribution and public awareness.

The extension aims to ensure a smooth transition to the card‑based system and avoid inconvenience for women commuters during the changeover.
