Delhi Government and ICCR sign pact to promote local artists globally
The Delhi government and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand international opportunities for artists in the capital and strengthen cultural and academic exchanges. The five-year agreement aims to promote tourism and global outreach by integrating Delhi’s artistic traditions with international platforms.
Under the partnership, the government will identify talent across various disciplines—including performing arts, literature, sculpture, textiles, architecture, culinary arts, and handicrafts—to create a comprehensive directory for ICCR. This will enable both established and emerging artists to participate in the ICCR’s Horizon Series and various international cultural festivals.
The initiative also focuses on cultural diplomacy through joint exhibitions, artist residency programs, workshops, and seminars. Additionally, the agreement seeks to facilitate the participation of foreign artists in Delhi’s festivals and host foreign scholars and dignitaries. It also includes provisions for study camps and orientation visits for foreign students to experience the city’s historical and cultural heritage.
