Delhi Government and MCD to open 250 centers for religious material collection
The Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish 250 specialized collection centers across the city. These centers are designed to respectfully collect broken idols and religious puja materials.
Under the agreement, which includes representatives from the Plastindia Foundation, the collected materials will be recycled into useful items. The initiative aims to discourage residents from immersing these items in the Yamuna River, thereby helping to maintain the river's cleanliness and sanctity while respecting religious sentiments.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presided over the signing ceremony, which was also attended by MCD Mayor Pravesh Wahi.
