Delhi Government cracks down on 106 industrial units for pollution violations

The Delhi Government has intensified its crackdown on industrial air pollution to improve air quality in the capital. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, authorities inspected 2,011 industrial units between January and July 2026.

Of these inspected units, 106 were found to be in violation of established environmental standards. Additionally, 78 units were operating without a valid ‘Consent to Operate’ (CTO) from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC). As a result of these findings, the government has imposed environmental fines in 44 cases and issued closure orders for 33 non-compliant industrial units.

The government's campaign extends beyond industrial emissions to include other major pollution sources such as road dust, vehicle exhaust, construction activities, and waste burning. Officials stated that while they will support industries that follow environmental laws, they will maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward those polluting the city's air.
