Delhi government extends free bus travel for women via Pink Tickets until August 31

The Delhi government has extended the use of paper-based ‘Pink Tickets’ for free bus travel for women until August 31. This extension applies to both Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses.

The decision, announced by Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, aims to provide relief to passengers during the festive season, including Raksha Bandhan, and allows more time for women to transition to the new digital system. Starting September 1, the use of the ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’ will become mandatory to avail of free travel benefits.

To date, approximately 1.8 million Pink Saheli Smart Cards have been issued. The government plans to launch awareness campaigns through bus depot announcements, social media, and print media to encourage eligible women to obtain their cards before the new deadline. There are currently 50 authorized centers available for card registration and application.
