The Delhi government has extended its 100 per cent Late Payment Surcharge (LPSC) waiver scheme for outstanding water bills until March 31, 2027. Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma announced the extension, which provides relief to domestic and commercial consumers by allowing them to settle their accounts by paying only the principal amount owed.

The previous deadline for the scheme was August 15, 2026. By waiving the accumulated penalties, the government aims to reduce financial stress for families while helping the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) recover significant principal dues. To date, the DJB has waived Rs 3,261 crore in surcharges and collected Rs 815.84 crore in principal payments, benefiting over 527,000 consumers.

Minister Verma emphasized that no further extensions will be granted beyond the new March 2027 deadline and urged consumers to utilize this window to clear their arrears.
