Delhi government schools update midday meal menu

The Delhi Directorate of Education has updated the PM POSHAN midday meal menu for government schools to enhance nutritional variety and food quality. The new menu introduces several new dishes, including idli-sambar, puri with black chana gravy, and rice with chole and mashed vegetables.

To accommodate the preparation of idli-sambar, which requires specific steaming equipment, catering agencies have been granted a two-week window to make necessary arrangements. The full implementation of the updated menu is expected by August 24. Other changes include replacing ragi halwa with wheat halwa and introducing millets like jowar and bajra.

All meals must adhere to FSSAI food safety standards and nutritional guidelines. Monitoring of these standards has been assigned to zonal and district education officers to ensure compliance.
