Delhi Government to use NTEP platforms for Hepatitis B and C diagnosis

The Delhi Government is implementing a new initiative to enhance the diagnosis and management of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. The plan involves utilizing existing molecular testing platforms currently under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) to conduct viral load tests for patients who screen positive for these viruses.

Delhi currently possesses 85 Truenat molecular testing platforms under the NTEP. The proposed strategy involves earmarking one platform per district to conduct Hepatitis B and C viral load testing, subject to approval from the State Programme Officer. This integration aims to optimize available resources, improve access to testing, and strengthen coordination between national health programs.

The broader screening strategy also includes the deployment of portable X-ray facilities, with a specific focus on women and pregnant women to ensure timely identification of health conditions. Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that integrating resources from different national health programs will expand the effective use of existing infrastructure and improve access to essential diagnostic services.
