Delhi GST department seizes Rs 5 crore in goods at Nizamuddin Station

The Delhi GST department, in coordination with railway officials, has seized approximately 50 tonnes of goods valued at nearly Rs 5 crore at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. The consignment arrived via train from Renigunta in Andhra Pradesh.

The seized items include roughly 25 tonnes of copper scrap valued at approximately Rs 3 crore, along with 25 tonnes of mixed scrap, clothing, and other goods estimated to be worth Rs 2 crore. The action was initiated following reports that the goods were being transported without mandatory documentation, such as invoices and e-way bills.

Officials are currently conducting a detailed verification of the goods and documents to ensure compliance with GST rules. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the government will not tolerate tax evasion or revenue loss and intends to strengthen monitoring across various transportation modes to ensure business transparency.
