Delhi High Court Bars AI Deepfakes of Cricketer Yuvraj Singh

The Delhi High Court issued an interim order protecting the personality rights of former Indian cricket captain Yuvraj Singh. Justice Jyoti Singh ruled that the cricketer’s name, image, voice and likeness may not be used without his consent for commercial or personal gain, explicitly banning the creation and distribution of AI‑generated and deep‑fake content.

The order targets unauthorised merchandise and social‑media posts that depict Singh in fabricated, religiously insensitive or violent scenarios. Platforms including Meta were directed to remove the offending material. The court emphasized Singh’s global recognition and the need to safeguard his reputation from exploitation.
