Delhi High Court orders Centre, RML Hospital to address stalled super‑specialty block

The Delhi High Court issued a notice to the Union Government, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, the Delhi Government and the Delhi Fire Services in response to a Public Interest Litigation filed by the NGO Social Jurist. The petition alleges that the hospital’s ₹400 crore Super Speciality Block, built to add around 666 beds and advanced operation theatres, remains non‑operational despite the project being substantially complete.

The court seeks immediate removal of statutory and fire‑safety deficiencies, the granting of all required approvals and occupancy certifications, and the full commissioning of the block. The matter is listed for further hearing on 3 August 2026, with the petitioner warning that the delay deprives thousands of patients of specialised medical services and wastes public resources.
