Delhi High Court orders community service in Manipur to quash FIR
The Delhi High Court has quashed a First Information Report (FIR) involving a dispute between friends after the parties reached a voluntary settlement. Justice Prateek Jalan noted that because the individuals have maintained their social bond and resolved their grievances, continuing criminal proceedings would serve no constructive purpose.
As a condition for quashing the FIR, the court ordered the accused to perform community service at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Manipur and pay suitable compensation. This ruling highlights a judicial preference for restorative justice in cases where personal conflicts are resolved amicably.
