Delhi High Court orders removal of obscene content featuring Khushi Kapoor
The Delhi High Court has directed the removal of allegedly obscene and pornographic content featuring actor Khushi Kapoor from social media platforms. Justice Jyoti Singh also ordered the takedown of unauthorized merchandise that exploits Kapoor’s personality attributes.
In response to Kapoor’s suit seeking protection of her personality and publicity rights, the court indicated it would issue a ‘John Doe order’. This legal measure is intended to protect against unidentified individuals involved in the unauthorized use or exploitation of her identity. This ruling follows a similar order issued a day prior for Kapoor’s sister, Janhvi Kapoor, regarding the unauthorized use of her personality rights.
The court’s actions reflect a growing trend of addressing digital misuse, including deepfakes, manipulated images, and the commercial exploitation of celebrities' names, voices, and likenesses.
