Delhi High Court Rejects Immediate Restoration of Cockroach Janata Party’s X Account
The Delhi High Court declined to issue an immediate order restoring the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) account on the X platform. Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav, hearing a petition filed by party founder Abhijeet Dipke, said the court must hear arguments from the central government and X before deciding. The bench issued a notice to both parties and gave them four weeks to respond, scheduling the next hearing for 6 July.
The CJP account was blocked on 21 May after the government cited national‑security concerns. A new account titled “Cockroach is Back” was subsequently created, quickly amassing over 2.27 million followers. The court’s decision indicates that any reversal of the ban will depend on a fuller review of the security and platform‑related arguments.
