Delhi High Court transfers 151 judges, launches special NIA, MCOCA and NDPS courts

The Delhi High Court issued an order moving 151 judges within its jurisdiction. Six judges – Anu Grover Baliga, Vikas Dhal, Prashant Sharma, Amit Bansal, Kiran Bansal and Pulastya Pramachal – were reassigned to newly created special courts at Rauj Avenue to serve as exclusive NIA judges from 4 August. The same venue now hosts dedicated courts for cases under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). Thirteen judges in total were appointed to these special benches, including Judge Ajay Gupta, who will handle paper‑leak matters. The restructuring aims to accelerate the hearing of pending serious‑crime cases and improve the allocation of judicial resources across Delhi’s courts.
