Delhi High Court upholds bail for former NSE chief Chitra Ramkrishna
The Delhi High Court has upheld the bail granted to Chitra Ramkrishna, the former managing director of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), dismissing an appeal by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The case involves allegations that phone calls of NSE staff were unlawfully intercepted between 2009 and 2017. Investigators claim Ramkrishna, alongside other senior officials, hired an external firm to conduct surveillance under the guise of a cyber threat assessment.
In a previous ruling, the court rejected Ramkrishna’s challenge regarding the applicability of the Prevention of Corruption Act, noting that the NSE performs functions of public importance and its executives are subject to its regulations.
