Delhi hospital discharges 21‑year‑old protester injured during Jantra‑Mantra clash

On July 20, a protest organized by the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) at the Jantra‑Mantra observatory in New Delhi turned violent after police used force to disperse demonstrators demanding accountability over a leaked exam paper and related irregularities. Among those injured was a 21‑year‑old female protester who lost consciousness during the clash and was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.

She required intensive care, including a week in the ICU on ventilator support, but after ten days of treatment and rehabilitation she regained full consciousness, could walk unaided and perform daily activities. On July 30 the hospital issued a medical report noting “satisfactory improvement” and formally discharged her, citing her stable condition.

The incident highlighted tensions over the alleged exam paper leak and the broader issue of student concerns with the government, while also drawing criticism over the police’s use of force during the protest.
