Delhi hosts 2026 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship, CM Rekha Gupta urges public attendance

The 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026 will be held in Delhi from 27 July for seven days at the Tyagaraj Stadium, featuring athletes from 25 Commonwealth nations. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta used the X platform to invite residents to watch the matches live and support the competitors, calling the event a showcase of world‑class skill.

On 14 July the CM unveiled the tournament’s official mascot, “Mayur”, inspired by India’s national bird, and premiered the championship’s official trailer. The opening ceremony was attended by Education Minister Ashish Sood, officials of the Table Tennis Federation of India and the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation, as well as representatives and players from the participating countries. Gupta highlighted Delhi’s successful history of hosting major international sporting events, from the Asian Games to previous Commonwealth Games.

The championship aims to draw large crowds and promote the sport of table tennis across the capital and the nation.
