Delhi hosts Badariya festival celebrating monsoon and folk culture
The Delhi Government hosted the ‘Badariya: A Monsoon Farewell Festival’ at Talkatora Stadium to celebrate India’s cultural heritage. The event featured music and folk traditions, specifically highlighting Bhojpuri and Maithili traditions from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Purvanchal. Padma awardee Malini Awasthi performed traditional songs including Kajri and Thumri.
Union Minister Harsh Malhotra and Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra attended the festivities. Malhotra noted that such programs strengthen Delhi’s identity, while Mishra stated the government aims to establish the capital as a major cultural hub.
Additionally, the third edition of the Soundscapes of India (SOI) 2026 festival was scheduled from August 29 to 31 at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre. Organized by the Indian Performing Right Society Ltd. in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the event was expected to feature over 150 artists and 25 bands from India and more than 20 countries.
