Delhi identifies 1,148 acres for new tech-driven industrial development
The Delhi government is developing a new industrial strategy to attract clean, technology-driven, and knowledge-based industries to the capital. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa recently met with industry and real estate stakeholders to discuss building a future-ready industrial ecosystem through the proposed New Industrial Policy 2026–36.
The policy aims to prioritize high economic value industries with low environmental impact, specifically targeting Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and other knowledge-based sectors. To support this, the government has identified approximately 1,148 acres of greenfield industrial land, including 920 acres in Kanjhawala, 147 acres in Ranikhera, and 81 acres in Baprola. Additionally, officials are exploring the redevelopment of the eight-acre Jhandewalan Flatted Factory Complex into modern commercial and industrial spaces.
In addition to the industrial policy, the government is working on a new Startup Policy, an Export Promotion Policy, and the Delhi Ease of Doing Business Bill 2026. Officials noted that Delhi’s skilled workforce, metro network, and airport proximity are key advantages for attracting new-age businesses and generating high-quality employment.
