Delhi implements EV incentives and pollution monitoring measures
The Delhi government has accelerated its efforts to combat air pollution through the Delhi Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2026. Since July 1, more than 2,700 residents have received a total of 7.91 crore rupees in incentives for vehicle purchases and scrapping. Out of 7,782 total applications received, 7,706 pertain to two-wheelers. The policy offers 100 percent exemptions on road tax and registration fees for eligible electric vehicles to promote green mobility.
In a separate move to strengthen pollution control, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, alongside Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, inspected the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee. The inspection focused on real-time air quality monitoring and surveillance systems. During the visit, five public EV charging stations were launched, and 13 new continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations were inaugurated to improve the accuracy of air quality data across the region.
