Delhi inaugurates ₹16 crore biogas plant at Goyla Dairy

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a new biogas plant at Goyla Dairy in the Najafgarh area on Monday. The project, costing ₹16 crore, is designed to convert 200 metric tons of cow dung daily into clean fuel and organic fertilizer.

The facility is expected to produce approximately 14,000 cubic meters of raw biogas and 5.6 tons of pure compressed biogas (CBG) per day. The CBG will be supplied to Indraprastha Gas Limited via pipeline, while the remaining slurry will be used as natural fertilizer. To support the initiative, the agency will collect dung from dairy operators at a rate of 67 paise per kilogram.

This project is part of the central government’s ‘Swachh Yamuna Initiative’ and aligns with the ‘Waste to Wealth’ mission. By processing waste locally, the plant aims to prevent dung from flowing into the Yamuna River, thereby reducing pollution. The Chief Minister noted that three biogas plants have been commissioned in the last 18 months, with six more currently in development.
