Delhi Lakshmi Yojana women registrations monthly assistance budget ₹5,100 crore eligibility criteria

The Delhi government launched the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, renamed from the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, to provide monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 to eligible women. On the first day of the online portal’s opening, more than 1.45 lakh women (1,47,215 registrations) completed the registration process.

The scheme allocates ₹5,100 crore and requires beneficiaries to be aged 21‑60, have a family annual income of ≤ ₹2.5 lakh, reside in Delhi for at least ten years, and meet several exclusion criteria such as owning a car or having a family member who pays income tax or works for the government. Applicants must also obtain an endorsement from a local MP or MLA. Of the monthly amount, ₹1,500 is placed in a three‑year fixed deposit, while ₹1,000 is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the launch on X, also unveiling the Vidya Vahini Yojana, under which more than 3,000 bicycles were distributed to Class 9 girls in government schools as the first phase of a larger empowerment drive.
