Delhi Lakshmi Yojana sees over 514,000 registrations in first week

The Delhi government's Delhi Lakshmi Yojana has seen significant engagement within its first seven days of launch. As of Saturday afternoon, the scheme recorded 514,460 registrations, with 218,728 final applications officially submitted.

District-level data indicates that the North-East district had the highest response with 73,676 registrations, followed by the North-West and West districts. Conversely, the New Delhi district recorded the fewest registrations at 5,573.

Under the scheme, eligible women will receive Rs 2,500 per month. Beneficiaries have the option to receive Rs 1,000 in a Central Bank Digital Currency wallet for daily expenses and Rs 1,500 in a recurring deposit (RD) or fixed deposit (FD), or they may choose to deposit the full amount into an RD or FD. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the government aims to release the first installment to eligible beneficiaries on Raksha Bandhan, noting that the scheme is intended to promote savings, digital financial inclusion, and long-term financial stability.
