Delhi launches health scheme for construction workers and reviews TB campaign

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has authorized the Delhi Building Workers Health Scheme, a new initiative providing cashless medical treatment for over 2.7 lakh registered construction workers and their families. The scheme offers up to Rs 2 lakh in annual coverage per beneficiary, with a total family cap of Rs 10 lakh per year. Benefits include outpatient consultations, diagnostic services, medications, and inpatient treatment through empanelled hospitals.

In a separate health review, the Lieutenant Governor addressed operational gaps in the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign. He noted that a shortage of radiographers has delayed the deployment of AI-enabled handheld X-ray machines. Sandhu directed officials to meet specific preventive care targets by September 30 and suggested screening all patients for tuberculosis upon hospital admission to ensure early detection and treatment.
