Delhi leadership defends administration amid procurement and CAG report debates
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood have addressed several administrative and political issues in the capital. During an appointment ceremony, Gupta and Sood distributed appointment letters to 1,368 newly appointed teachers.
Addressing allegations from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding the Vidya Vahini bicycle procurement scheme, Minister Sood rejected claims of irregularities. He stated that the bicycles were purchased through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) via a transparent bidding process, noting that over 3,000 girl students have already received bicycles in the first phase.
In the Assembly, Chief Minister Gupta utilized findings from Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports to criticize the previous AAP administration. She alleged significant financial mismanagement, including a rise in regulatory assets of power discoms to 38,000 crore and potential scams involving power subsidies. Gupta described her administration’s reforms as “pesticides” intended to remove “termites” affecting governance and development.
