Delhi government forms committees for major upcoming festivals
The Delhi government has established three special committees to manage preparations for the upcoming Ramlila, Durga Puja, and Chhath Puja festivals. Directed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, these committees aim to ensure security, smooth traffic management, sanitation, electricity, and medical services for devotees.
Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh will head the Ramlila committee, focusing on facilities such as drinking water, ambulances, and fire services. Minister Kapil Mishra will lead the committees for both Durga Puja and Chhath Puja. For Durga Puja, the committee will specifically oversee arrangements for temporary ponds for idol immersion and subsequent cleaning.
To streamline administration, the committees will facilitate the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) through a single-window system at District Magistrate offices. Additionally, the Ramlila committee will promote environmental protection and the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ campaign.
Separately, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has outlined a four-pillar roadmap for the city, emphasizing safer streets for women and children, AI-enabled civic services, and zero-waste neighborhoods. He urged the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to maintain the high cleanliness standards achieved during the BRICS summit throughout the year.
