Delhi MCD public health workers to receive equal pay

Approximately 4,000 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) employees in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Public Health Department will receive a minimum monthly salary of Rs 18,000 plus dearness allowance. The decision follows the principle of equal pay for equal work for staff previously designated as domestic breeding checkers who were recruited to contain dengue.

The pay revision is expected to create an annual financial burden of Rs 52 crore. Mayor Pravesh Wahi stated that the proposal was included in a previous budget and received immediate approval from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta once the costs were clarified. The increased wages have already been transferred directly to the employees' bank accounts.

In addition to the salary adjustment, the MCD announced the recruitment of 2,500 sanitation workers ahead of Diwali to improve city cleanliness.
