Delhi Municipal Corporation cracks down on illegal structures, meat shops

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) intensified its enforcement actions by demolishing unauthorised reinforced‑cement‑concrete roof slabs, walls and columns in Punjabi Bagh and sealing eleven residential properties that were being used for commercial activities across the Karol Bagh zone. The demolition was carried out with assistance from local police and the MCD demolition squad under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act and related building by‑laws.

MCD also issued an order to shut all unauthorised meat shops and to act against licensed outlets that violate permit conditions along the routes of the annual Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage. The directive, covering the 308 scheduled Kanwar camps in the capital from July 30 to August 11, includes the removal of encroachments, intensive sanitation drives and round‑the‑clock cleaning to maintain hygiene at camp sites.
